What is your service?
Mine is a Personal Paint Party Service. I am the professional painter of Sarah Gies Studio. I come into your home, set up, take down, and instruct a painting session. I will guide you and your guests through the step by step paint process. I will supply all of the painting materials and tools. You will only be responsible for supplying the space, guests, food, and liquid refreshments. I will take care of everything else!
What makes you and your service Unique?
During this unique time, it’s best to stay home and spend time with trusted friends. You don’t have to worry about the unknown people in a brick and mortar paint shop. With my service, you can invite the friends who you trust and know. You can drink your favorite wine or cocktail instead of the wine provided at a painting venue. You can enjoy your favorite snacks. You can trust the cleanliness of your own bathroom. You can stay home and invite your friends to come to you.
I can also provide a framing and custom varnish service that other painting studios don’t offer.
Please plan on a full two hour session. Some people are faster painter than others. Some people are perfectionists and cannot be hurried. Some paintings are easier than others. You have paid good money for this service and you should take your time, enjoy the company, and drink more wine (wink, wink)!
How long is a session?
What about child parties?
YES!! I just started that adventure! Bare with me. So, for the birthday child, I have a few images to choose from. I will have canvases all drawn up BEFORE hand with an image for the attendees to paint. Please remember to let me know of your painting choice well before the party so I have have enough pre-drawn canvases ready before the day of the party. Also like all other parties, I will set up, take down, and encourage the children while keeping the whole area as clean as I possibly can! (Wink, Wink) I can not promise paint won’t get in mouths, ears, clothes, and accidentally on floors! But I am there and will be the first to clean up as well as I can. I use a water-based paints so it should clean up quickly. I also supply aprons for the children.
Child Parties: What are pre-drawn images?
Pre-drawn images are something new I’m working on so my inventory on images are super low right now. But basically it is an image already drawn out on the canvas for your child to paint. At the party, all the children can sit down and they know exactly what to do and can color the painting however they see fit. At this time, I am taking orders for images that you know your child would love to paint at their party. (For example: for a 6 year old birthday party, the birthday girl wanted a unicorn and rainbow. I then created an image for that party.)
I understand that when it comes to choosing an image for your child’s paint party it can be quite nerve racking with boys and girls attending and you just want to please everyone. With that I am very lenient, but please remember how much work goes into this even before the party starts. What I would prefer is choosing one image and then I would arrive at the party with a predesignated number of canvases all drawn out with that image for everyone to paint. Well, I know sometimes it doesn’t always work out that way. With that said, please contact me about possibly having 2 images for the children to choose from.
ALSO REMEMBER, that i will not be creating custom on the spot images on canvases the day of the party. For example, if everyone is painting dinosaurs and there is a kid who asks to paint a spaceship, I will not stop everything I am doing and draw out a spaceship. You know what happens next. Then every kid will want their own image and my life with then become my nightmare.
What do I need to provide? What do you provide?
If you are the host of the party, you will need to provide the space and enough table top room for your guests! Please, don’t scrunch in your guests. Giving them plenty of room will ensure their safety and comfort during this unusaul pandemic. You might want to provide some snacks and drinks. (Personally, when I have hosted I divided up the food and drink responsibilities to everyone in my party.)
I will provide ALL of the painting tools and materials including a table cloth covering, aprons, easels, pallets, paint, canvas, etc. I will set it all up and take it all down. You will need to do nothing with the art segment of your party, except have fun!
What is Resin?
OH! I’m so glad you asked! It’s my favorite finish for all of my professional paintings, and looks almost glass-like. The other finishing option is a typical varnish that is more of a thin protective semi-gloss layer, while the epoxy resin is more of a full-on hard plastic that goes directly onto your painting. I will visually show you in your session the difference between the two, and the difference is night and day. Also remember that by requesting the varnishing and resining finish, it will take me a week to prep, cure, and personally deliver your painting to you. The delivery fee is included in the price of the varnish that you choose.
What if I don’t like the Provided frame?
I can work with you on a few other options and can provide one to you from my supplier at an additional price. Also, please be aware that it will take longer for the frame delivery, frame assembly, and personal delivery to you.
what if I don’t like the painting choices?
We can totally talk about a custom painting! It really depends on what you are asking for and how much time we have prior to the party. If you are asking for a painting that I don’t normally paint, it will be harder for me to actually TEACH it to you.It would take time to perfect a painting for you, or may not be possible. A custom painting will be time-consuming and create an addition expense to you. It really comes down to what you are asking for.
what is your COVID-19 protocol?
I am an immune-compromised mother with a toddler. I wear a mask everywhere I go and I am constantly washing my hands. I also work from home and leave the house only when necessary. I totally understand if the host of the party would prefers that everyone including me, wear a mask. I will leave that decision up to the host and what you feel comfortable with your home.
What if I don’t have the table space?
No worries. I can provide a 6ft folding table there is room for that table in your space. In additional $15 charge for this table rental will be applied.
Does everyone need to decide beforehand if they want a frame or varnish?
NO! I totally understand that your mind changes with these paintings. Sometimes people are so excited and extremely proud of their work that they can’t wait to show it off in their home. So, as you finish your painting, you can decide then and there if you would like any special finishes or framing. I will have all of your finishing choices with me.
